Winter soldier——The Byronic Hero

“ Bucky Barnes, the only one who sacrificed in the roaring commandos.”
“James Buchanan Barnes, the notorious hydra agent.”
People evaluate James Barnes in totally different ways.  Bucky Barnes (James Buchanan Barnes), my favorite Marvel Comics character also known as the Winter Soldier, who later briefly assumed the role of Captain America when Steve Rogers was presumed to be dead. Everything follows will be about him.
                                
When it comes to Bucky Barnes, we have to talk about Captain America，Steve Rogers who is regard as American idol and people praise him as a moral standard of the United States. Steve is integrity, honest，kind and full of justice like other traditional heroes. But different from Bucky Barnes. As a teenager，Bucky Barnes is perform as Captain America Steve Rogers’s closest and most trusted partner who help Captain to do works which are not so
“Captain American” like secret lurking task，assassinate and so on. In one mission, he against enemy with Captain America‘s shield to save captain but was shot down a cliff and was rescued by the enemy——Hydra. It was his last mission in roaring commandos.
                            
Hydra scientist modified his body and installed him a machinery and electric left arm，meanwhile they brainwashed him and utilize his ability launched the“winter soldier” program, training him to become the killer “winter soldier” of blind loyalty.
When Bucky met Captain America again after 70 years，he was already the winter soldier，the notorious hydra agent who didn’t know Steve anymore.
                                               
Steve Rogers tried to saved Bucky from Hydra and Bucky recovered a bit of memory. But he was facing another problem. People criticized him, tried him and accused him with malicious words.
‘He is like a pool of sewage, people hate him, blow him and stay away from him. Only Steve Rogers jump into it with desperate and salvage the soul belong to Bucky Barnes.’ 
                                                                                        
Bucky Barnes, the winter soldier is my favorite character in marvel series. I always thinking irritated that why did fate so unfair to him. I always thinking indignantly that all the people came to him for revenge, who should he take revenge for? He is so kind, so brave and loyal to his country, I want everyone to know that he deserves the “hero” and he deserves all the beautiful things.
As the god of destiny makes fools of the people. Winter soldier killed a lot of innocent people and did a large number of irreparable wrong things in his brainwashed 70 years. He separated from society and his life was all about killing targets and reporting missions.
But he has so many redeeming qualities like Captain America said in the comic books (the picture below):” …. James Buchanan Barnes， he is the bravest soldier I have ever known. He will give his life for his country without any hesitation. He should not be forgotten, he should not be deprived of the honor he should have…. He deserves everything.”
Even when Bucky recovered some of his memory，he did not find any reason to deny things that he had done to exonerate himself from a charge. He faced the accusations of all over the world and bears all in silence, not even a plea.
                                                                                                 
So, the first time I learned “The Byronic Hero”, I immediately thought of Winter Soldier. I was ecstatic because he meets all the criteria that the Byronic Hero asked. I always know that he is not the traditional hero that the public can accept. People always hold on to the bad things he had done even he was brainwashed in that period like” so what? He killed people”!
The Winter Soldier is obviously not a traditional hero because he did things which are not “America idol”, he killed people through his brainwashed period. But as captain said, he has his own splendid personal qualities.
All in all, no matter what people say, he is always a hero in my heart.
